portraits gkhb (page 2)
Why the sorcerers of Nergal
commissioned these portraits to be made is a
mystery. The sorcerers were by no means sentimental creatures, and it is
most unlikely that they kept these portraits as mere mementos. It was long
rumored that the sorcerers did keep demons as servants, and this fact was
confirmed later, after the fall of Kh!'rk Q'm, by the sorcerer Cotitas (in
his`Reminiscences'), and the sorcerer Slurimonius (`The Sorcerer's
Almanack'), two of the very few sorcerers to survive the fall.

Their accounts are confirmed by the
Enchantress, the Lady Grynwalt, in her
`Memoirs', kept privately and published posthumously, and by the wizards
Rutuger, ('The Fall of Nergal'), and Toma, called `Toma the Great' (in his
twenty-four volume history, `The History of the Dark Empire of Nergal').
All three were eyewtinesses to the fall of Kh!'rk Q'm, and each describes
in great detail the multitudes of demons they observed serving the
sorcerers.
