Llorelai

Llorelai is a farmer and a huntress who lives with her brother, Gorge, in their farm far outside Markhl, above Aurelia’s Villa.  It is she and Gorge who guide Thornwaldt and Rutuger in their quest against the warlock Putroilius.

Though she is neither an enchantress nor an elf, Llorelai does have the rudiments of magic.  Llorelai has cultivated many exotic, semi-conscious plants, and protects her farm with a myriad of flesh-eating vines.

She is a sensitive, and has tamed the luminous creatures that inhabit her garden, the lightning bugs and glow worms who seek their nourishment from the fruits and the vegetables that she raises there.

She uses them in good part, to light her house by compelling them to hang in vast strands from the vines that she entwines from the rafters.  This, only at night.  She permits them their freedom during the daylight hours.

Llorelai makes all her own clothing, and her own jewelry, as well, using feathers, bones, seeds, crystals, and bits of various metals cast off from Gorge’s foundry.

When they part, after their successful adventure against the warlock, Llorelai presses upon the magician an amulet for protection that she has crafted herself (seen below).  Thornwaldt wears this amulet on a silver strand about his neck through his long march upon Nergal and carries it with him all the years of his life after.
