The enchantress, the Lady Grynwalt, carries an elegant dirk as part of
the
basic wardrobe of any well-bred enchantresses.  Though the dirk does not
figure prominently in the story, she carries it with her throughout.
Mostly
decorative, it is - like all her possessions - enfused with enchantment.
Through her days at the castle, she used it mostly to open letters.

It does make a brief appearance in the story, when she and the magician
Thornwaldt confront a gang of thugs in the streets of Njording.

Once again, at the fall of Kh!'rk Q'm, her dirk comes into the story, as she
uses it,
for the first time ever, to defend herself, and Suzette, from the hordes of
demons
fleeing the erupting of Urkh! Mons.

Grynwalt’s decorative dirk.  A modern reconstruction based on contemporary descriptions.  Entirely decorative and part of the ensemble of every enchantress, it is not intended as a weapon.  Suffused with enchantment, the Lady Grynwalt carried it with her when she and her four companions set out on their remarkable journey, and did use it defensively at Kh!’rk Q’m.
